Dr. Cordia P. Moore, National Administrator

Dr. Cordia P. Moore is executive director of elementary education for the Gary

Community School Corp. She has served the district as a classroom teacher, head

teacher and administrator, supervisor of parent programs and parent outreach. She was

assistant principal at Dunbar Pulaski Middle School, then principal at Washington

Elementary prior to accepting her current position in 1997. In this role, her major

responsibility is to provide administrative support, supervision and leadership to all elementary schools; there are 16 with an additional preschool site.

 

Dr. Moore makes certain principals get what they need to provide for staff and students and monitors success of school improvement plans. She visits schools regularly. "I make it my business to put my feet in every elementary classroom in my district at some time in that year," she says, "to be visible and be a role model."

 

Dr. Moore is driven by her desire for all children to succeed; she founded several programs as an administrator including Dynamic Dads, Mighty Men of Tomorrow and Young Ladies With Class.  Among her many accomplishments in 1995 she received the IU Don's Outstanding Educator Award, and in 1996 won the YWCA Women of  Distinction Award along with the Milken National Educator Award.

She has a Bachelor's degree in elementary education from IU Northwest, Master's Degrees in science and elementary education from IUN, and a Doctorate in educational leadership from Fischler University.

 

Dr. Moore is married to Floyd Moore and they are the proud parents of three  children and five grandchildren. She is a member of the St. Jude Family Worship  Center in Gary, Indiana where the pastor is the Bishop Lois B. Hill. She serves as administrator and Pianist and is the National Administrator and National Youth  President of the Deliverance Centers of America, Inc. More than anything else she gives glory and honor to her Heavenly Father and is proud and joyful to be his child.
